Summary: The collapse of the communist regime in 1991 brought numerous traumatic and rapid changes to Albania, leaving the people with an identity crisis. Hurt, angry and confused, they are still struggling to find their identity in a country that is considered to be Europe's poorest and least developed. As a result, some have migrated to other countries like North Macedonia.
Obstacles: Albanians have a spiritual worldview that is affected by superstition, Islam and atheism. It may be difficult for believers to connect with them, so believers need to learn the worldview of the people they are reaching before sharing the gospel.
Pray for p g: Pray that Bibles would be effectively distributed throughout North Macedonia and have a strong spiritual impact on Albanians. Pray that there would be a movement to Christ among the Albanians in North Macedonia. Pray for the effectiveness of the JESUS Film in North Macedonia. Summary: There are around two million Bosniaks living in the Balkans today. The largest number of Bosniaks outside of Bosnia and Herzegovina is found in the Sandzak region of Montenegro and Serbia. The city of Novi Pazar is home to the largest Bosniak population outside of the motherland. There is also a smaller population present in Croatia, Kosovo, Slovenia and North Macedonia. Once spread throughout the regions they inhabited, various instances of ethnic cleansing and genocide have had a tremendous effect on the territorial distribution of their population. Partially due to this, a notable Bosniak diaspora exists in a number of countries.
Obstacles: For many Bosniaks, Islamic identity has more to do with cultural roots than with religious beliefs. Even among most religious Bosniaks, there is a disdain for religious leaders exercising any influence over day-to-day life. Bosniaks are no different than
How reach: The JESUS Film and a Bosnian Bible are available. There is even a children's Bible, filled with stories of Jesus. These can be personally shared with Bosniaks or downloaded from computers.
Pray for p g: Ask the Holy Spirit to soften the hearts of Bosniaks toward Christ followers so that they will be receptive to the gospel. Pray that God will grant wisdom and favor to the mission agencies that are currently working among Bosnians. Ask the Lord to call people who are willing to share Christ with Bosniaks. Ask God to encourage the few known Bosnian believers in this region. Ask the Lord to raise strong churches among Bosnians that will plant more churches.

Summary: The Gorani have traditionally lived in the triangular area between Albania, North Macedonia, and Kosovo, called the Gora region. They are Muslim but at one time were Orthodox Christians, beginning in the ninth century. When the Ottomans conquered their area in the 14th century the transition from Christianity to Islam began. In Kosovo there are 19 Gorani villages, in Albania there are nine, and in North Macedonia there are three villages. Gora is an undeveloped region and for centuries the young people have gone to other areas to find better opportunities. Disease and hunger have lessened the Gorani population, also.
Obstacles: Lack of prayer and lack of workers holds the gospel from advancing as fast as would otherwise be true.
How reach: There are many evangelical Christians in the regions where the Gorani now live. Pray some of these will be prompted by the Lord's Spirit to carry the good news about Jesus to the Gorani.
Pray for church: Please pray for the Orthodox Christians among the Gorani people. Pray they will truly be Christ-followers, not content with nominal commitments to the Christian faith.
Pray for p g: Pray the Lord will remember the prayers of Gorani Christians offered up so long ago. Some of these Christians surely prayed for their descendants.

Summary: The Balkan Gagauz Yoruks have traditionally been semi-nomadic shepherds. For hundreds of years, at the beginning of every summer the Yoruks made the long trek from the hot coastal plains of Turkey to summer in the cool prairies and grassy highlands of the western Toros Mountains. Today they have largely become settled, though there are still nomads among them. The Yoruks are made up of a large number of patrilineal tribes, which are often subdivided into clans. The Yoruk people have retained their skill in weaving wool into colorful clothing. Their language is considered to be a Turkish dialect. Some live in Bulgaria or North Macedonia.
Obstacles: Physical isolation and a long-standing tradition of Islam are strong deterrents to anyone accepting that Jesus Christ has the final answer to spiritual questions. Anyone who strays outside the confines of Islam is usually viewed as a traitor by rural Muslim peoples like the Balkan Gagauz Yoruks in North Macedonia.
How reach: Are there people who are willing to live among the Balkan Gagauz Yoruk people? If not, these people have spotty Internet access where they can access Christian materials online. Balkan Gagauz Yoruks need skills that will help them adjust to the new challenges of the 21st century. Believers with the right job skills can teach their urban populations computer repair skills, etc. so they will be more employable in the years to come.
Pray for church: There are no followers of Christ among the Balkan Gagauz Yoruks in Bulgaria, so pray for the Holy Spirit to move among them soon.
